Mission
The Community Leadership Committee will focus on Centurions' community service through:
• Helping Centurions achieve appointments to non-profit and governmental boards through identifying board positions, recruiting Centurions prospects and advocating for Centurions.
• Developing, implementing, and monitoring a highly effective first-year mentoring program.
• Providing leadership training opportunities designed to enhance participants' leadership skills through workshops.
Time Allocation
The committee will plan to meet a minimum of one time per month, with expectations of meeting more frequently to complete timely projects. Committee members should anticipate an average commitment of two hours per week.
Committee Goals/Responsibilities
• Develop mentoring curriculum and track the effectiveness of the mentoring program.
• Serve as the point of contact for community leadership positions.
• Determine the community leadership focus and solicit institutions for the availability of board positions.
• Work with Centurions and immediate alumni to place them on community and charitable organization boards. Develop and implement a follow-up procedure to monitor the effectiveness and the overall experience.
• Convey community leadership positions through the use of e-mail, the newsletter, and brief announcements and descriptions at all task forces.
• Design leadership-training opportunities that will enhance Centurions' leadership skills.
• Work with Curriculum Committee and Projects Committee to maximize leadership opportunities and exposure for all Centurions.
• Arrange for the annual class gift.
