What does your company do, and what is your role there?
Headquartered in Olathe, Garmin is the world leader in satellite navigation with products for the automotive, outdoor, fitness, aviation and marine markets. As Social Media Manager, I coordinate our online outreach by engaging, educating and assisting customers. In other words, I get paid to be on Facebook and Twitter all day.

Other organizations you volunteer or serve with: Arthritis Foundation (leadership council), YMCA (brand advancement council), Bike MS team captain (The Other Team Garmin), Girls on the Run

What are your goals for the 2012 – 2013 Centurions year? As Steering Chair, I hope to empower and motivate every active to get as involved as possible in every aspect of the program. We have an amazing group, and I want to help every person fully appreciate this opportunity. Two years can fly by, so I want us to get the most out of every minute and every conversation. If that happens, it will be easy to achieve our various goals.

The theme for this year’s retreat is the 80’s – what’s the best 80’s band? A smorgasbord of Prince, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Springsteen and AC/DC with a little Meat Loaf on the side.

History of Kansas City: What is the best historical event to ever happen in Kansas City? John McDonald decides to brew some beer along Southwest Boulevard.

Emerging KC: if we could bring one business to Kansas City from out of town what business would you like to see? Ikea. Or Clif Bar. Or CamelBak.

Tourism: Best tourist destination within five miles of your home? Loose Park

Sports: You play for the Royals ….what’s your “at bat” song?
Jump Around by House of Pain. And I’d make them play the whole song.

Health and Wellness: Favorite Olympic sport? Tie between Track & Field and Cycling.

Wild Card: Which Kansas Citian (current) would you like to have lunch with? Chef Colby Garrelts of Bluestem. Great personality and story, and I’m guaranteed to enjoy the food.
