Trey Bowen

Class of 2011
Superior Bowen Asphalt
Chair, Transportation Task Force
Community Leadership Committee

What does your company do and what is your role there?
Superior Bowen Asphalt builds new and rehabs old roads and parking lots in the Kansas City metro area.  My role is hard to define as I get to deal in all sorts of domains, including HR, Legal, Banking, Business Development, etc.  It’s exciting because every day brings a new challenge and no two days are ever the same.

Other organizations you volunteer or serve with: Heavy Constructor’s Association: Treasurer; St. Luke’s Hospital: Paint the Town Committee.

First job ever: Flagman on a road crew … very boring turning a Stop/Slow sign, but the money was good!

Town you first voted in: Kansas City, Missouri.

What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
It depends on how hot and hungry I was, but never anything that could result in me wearing one of those County-Issued orange jumpsuits.

What do you love about KC? What unique asset sells KC?
The people and the size. I love the fact that the town is small enough that I can get involved and hopefully make a difference but it’s big enough that we have a vibrant entertainment scene (sports, concerts, arts).

Have you ever broken a bone? No. (knocked on wood)

Are you a Mac or PC?
PC … I have a strange love affair with Excel.

Best (or worst) sporting event you’ve attended: Best: The Masters. Worst: Kentucky Derby (worst sporting event but best party!).

KC place that is on your bucket list to visit:
Some elusive caves that apparently exist in the West Bottoms. The caves have come up in the conversations of planning my task force both years, but I still haven’t been able to ground that they actually exist!

Best Kansas City shortcut: Coal Mine Road to Arrowhead. It helps that it’s also on my route to my office!
